Project description:


The program “Sport schools for peace and coexistence” has allowed women to be positioned on community development and sport activities and enhance abilities on young people of the municipality so they can take action of transforming by themselves, this will allow them to take back their self-esteem and construct a life project related to sports. Nowadays, the program benefits 405 boys, girls, and teenager between 4 and 22 years old of the urban area, two villages, and indigenous reservation of Timbiquí, Cauca. The most important component lays in leadership and the activities implementation lays completely in young people of the area, known as “instructors” (monitores in Spanish). They were selected based on their compromise with the community. This pair exercise holds the format that allows keeping the project up and permanent.
